Volunteer Policy Update |
|
As you all have likely noticed, our concession stand has not been open consistently and often is closed for high traffic events (like league games). To help keep the stand staffed for all hours, the FLHA board has requested that we change the way we secure volunteers. Below is a summary of the new process.
-
· As of last week ALL the volunteer concession hours for the remainder of the season have been posted to the FLHA website.
-
· Parents have until Wednesday December 17th to schedule themselves to fulfill their volunteer obligations (4 hrs. per rostered child). On December 18th the remaining volunteer hours will be removed from the website (this was completed today!!)
-
· The board will review the concession calendar and assign weeks with open shifts remaining, to specific teams.
-
Weekly assignements have not been done yet - until they are you may sign up for any shift that is still open. A list of hours that remain open can be found on the final pages of the volunteer list posted on the concessions page, and in the concession stand.
-
o We will take care to align the number of open hours with the number of “non-workers” from each team.
-
o Tournament hours have not been posted, and will be the responsibility of the registered home team(s).
-
o Teams with tournaments will be assigned (if necessary) to a week that comes after the tournament weekend, so as to identify those who did use tournament volunteer work to fulfill their required hours.
-
o Teams may be assigned more than one week if necessary.
-
· Team managers will be provided with spreadsheets containing the names of all people on their team who have completed required hours and/or signed up to work hours.
-
· Managers are required to work with the parents who have not signed up, to determine who will fill the open shifts during the assigned week. Shifts may be signed up for ONLY in the calendar available in the concession stand after 12/18/08.
EarEalier this season, it was suggested that people who volunteered during construction of the new arena would be exempt from this year’s volunteer requirements. Many of the people who worked long hours building the arena continue to volunteer their time to help the association by filling open concession hours, working tournaments etc. etc. - and it is VERY appreciated!!!!
To order to keep the stand open for all hours of business, the board has determined it is necessary for those who worked during arena construction to work their annual association volunteer requirements as originally planned. (i.e. 4 hours/child). We had hoped offering some flexibility around our volunteer program would produce a better result than it has so far. The more money the concession stand generates, the more money the FLHA receives, and can use to help lower hockey registration fees. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we adjust to this new volunteer format. Please contact any board member if you have questions about this change.

Gift Registry for Sports complex
|
|
HELP FILL THE SPORTS COMPLEX
The Sports Complex is $300,000 shy of its fundraising goal, so we need your help to equip the building. You can purchase needed supplies through the Menards gift registry. Many items—like buckets and brooms—are $20 or less. To donate, simply go to the gift registry kiosk in any Menards store and pull up the Sports Complex wish list by selecting "House Warming" in the events category, then type "FLAAA" for the first name and "Sports Complex" for the last name. Print the list at the kiosk and hand it to the cashier when you make your purchase, so the cashier can cross it off the list. Then drop off your donation by Sept. 30 during business hours at ABBA Trophy, 631 S. Lake Street, Forest Lake. To make a financial donation to the Sports Complex and have your name on the Wall of Honor, send your check to Forest Lake Sports Complex, P.O. Box 21, Forest Lake, MN 55025. For more information, contact Laurie Kumerow at 763-439-3894. Thanks for your help!
Best Regards,
Andrea Boulineau, FLAAA Treasurer |
